Modo extends Derek Lam's unique fashion statement into a unique new women's ophthalmic collection.

Hand-crafted in Japan with the finest materials, and inspired by the American sportswear of the 40s and 50s, the collection is composed of 5 acetate and 4 block titanium styles. Styles are extremely feminine and feature discrete branding and unique, sophisticated details. Rounded temples recall the look and feel of vintage frames. The laser-engraved logos bring a subtle, almost whispered, signature element. Colors also reflect the sensual, feminine feel of the Ready to Wear line. Thus, the more classic tortoises and blacks are matched by the more delicate mauves and caramels.

Modo's CEO, Alessandro Lanaro, commented: “Derek is one of the most talented designers of our time. His subtle elegance and sophisticated, out of the ordinary materials fit perfectly with Modo's product philosophy. We are looking forward to positioning the Derek Lam Eyewear Collection as an exclusive alternative to the conventional designer brands.”

Derek Lam comments, “I am so pleased to work with a partner who understands luxury the way we do; beautifully crafted, unique and modern. The minute we saw Modo's capacity to create such a special, hand-finished product, I knew I could make a statement in eyewear.”

Packaging and POP also align to the overall sophistication of the collection. Frames come in a beautiful rounded black leather case, which in turn is contained in a paper box that could be mistaken for that of the most exclusive fragrances.

The European launch of the collection is scheduled for the upcoming MIDO in Milan, and will be distributed through select hi-end optical stores and fashion retailers, at a price consistent with its exclusive positioning.
